The UAE has 7 sites on the Ramsar Wetland Convention List; an international treaty for the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands.

These sites include protected areas and sanctuaries that are pivotal for animals and plants; Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary in Dubai is an example.

This year, Al-Zora Protected Area in Ajman has been added on the Ramsat List.
